About MEFMI - PCMS
The MEFMI Private Capital Flows Monitoring System (MEFMI-PCMS) is regional web-based software that facilitates the recording and processing of survey data on foreign private investment. The system also facilitates the reporting of output at unit records, country aggregate and/or MEFMI region aggregates to support data comparison and sharing. The system's reports are aligned to the international reporting standards for Balance of Payments and International Investment Position statistics. The system is available anytime and anywhere for use by authorised users in MEFMI member countries and other subscribing countries.
Overall, the MEFMI-PCMS supports the statistical and analytical needs of countries on foreign private investment, investment promotion and macro-economic policy in general.
System Objectives
1. To capture data on Foreign Assets and Liabilities (FAL), trade in services, foreign affiliates statistics (FATS) and investor perceptionsfrom surveys conducted by the PCMS User countries in the MEFMI region and beyond.
2. To process the information according to internationally acceptable standards and produce both standard and user defined reports in different formats.
3. To share approved aggregate information among MEFMI member countries.
4. To provide a platform for building IT capacity and establish a cadre of experts in PCMS for sustainable management of the system in the MEFMI region.
Data Confidentiality
The system data is subjected to confidentiality requirements. All survey specific details (information collected about enterprises) will remain in institutions with legal mandate to handle such information for confidentiality. Only approved aggregate information will be disseminated for wider readership.
