MEFMI undertakes capacity building activities in its 14 member countries aimed at improving macroeconomic, debt and financial management so as to contribute to the economic growth and reduction of poverty in these countries. In the short term, the results of capacity building interventions are increased awareness, improved knowledge and skills of officials in the targeted institutions in member countries, which will enable them to adopt and implement policies and practices in macroeconomic and financial management. In turn, this is expected to contribute to systemic improvements in the macroeconomic, financial sector and debt management, which are key to achieving financial and economic stability. To enable effective planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of the Institute’s programmes, it is critical to capture, store and analyse data on individuals and institutions that participate in the capacity building activities the Institute undertakes. The Integrated Management Information System (IMIS), a web-based database management system was developed to serve this purpose. The IMIS is a one-stop-shop for MEFMI information needs which integrates information from different systems/databases such as the accounting system, budgeting system (Quantrix), and SAGE People 300 Self Service across departments. Being a meta-system, the IMIS strengthens the processing, management and sharing of information from its capacity-building activities. IMIS is designed to ensure the information needed to support evidence based decision making is readily available.
